His name means Blessing. He never quite believed it. A boy, a silver wolf, an ancient forest under threat — and a twelve-year-old who must stand in two worlds at once.

“This was such an unputdownable book. I loved that Chiks finally sees that his name meaning Blessing was not a mistake. Can’t wait for book two.”

The Mission

I’m bringing reading back
to Accra.

One book at a time.

Jaydn Bruce grew up in Accra in a world that told young Africans that reading was for school, not for life. He disagreed. At 17 he has written three books — a poetry collection rooted in the streets of Accra and two YA novels set in an African world that feels like home. Not because someone asked him to. Because someone had to.

Every book sold is proof that the story isn’t over. Every reader is part of bringing it back.

Chapter One

“Many years ago, before you and I were born, in a small village on the edge of the wilderness, lived a boy named Chikomborero — or Chiks, as everyone called him. His name, as his mother often reminded him, meant Blessing.”
